Craving Gelato + Cupcakes

Last weekend we planned to stop by Sprinkles for a little afternoon snack when we found a new gelateria had opened up next door. Yup, cupcakes and gelato in the same shopping center…dangerous! Richer than American ice cream but without all the fat, gelato is one of my favorite sweet treats. Especially when served wrapped in a freshly made waffle cone! And if you happen to stop by Gelato Paradisco, try the toasted almond and the double chocolate flavors…you will thank me later.

    Don’t be fooled by a potential lower butterfat content. Gelato is NOT any “healthier” than American ice cream. It typically contains double the sugar content (sugar turns to fat) and eggs (which contain fat and cholesterol), where standard ice cream as we know it in the states can easily be made using three simple ingredients-cream+sugar+natural flavoring like vanilla. “Without all the fat” sounds a little misleading.

      That is true! And I agree, gelato is by no means a healthy alternative to ice cream. It’s just tasty! 🙂
